75% Attendance : Killing The Creativity

Almost all the Universities & Colleges have imposed this criteria and have made 75% attendance compulsory for all the students.

This 75% Attendance criteria in Indian Universities & Colleges are killing the creativity . Yes, you read it right . Now lets understand it from both the perspective i.e. College perspective & student perspective as well.

College Perspective :--
  • Most of the university management will say that if we do not impose that 75% attendance criteria the students will not showed up in the classes & they do not attend the lectures. Yes, That's great as students are not really interested in the stuffs you are teaching in the classes, so it is good to impose such compulsion on students but it should be for couple of semesters or till 2nd year.
  • Another reason University management will give that they are much more concerned about students future and their career it is more true that students are much more worried about their career & future (Some Exceptions are there too). Those are interested in lectures will attend the classes even without any compulsion.
Student Perspective :--

  • Most of students hate this due the fact that lectures in the classes are boring and syllabus is outdated. Students are really interested in following their passion and are involved in developing some great stuffs but such imposition consequently are killing these sorts of creativity as it is difficult to attend the 10 to 4 classes and then works on your passion.
  • Since the syllabus is outdated and not based on practical aspect of learning and they are not teaching the latest technology so students are interested to learn by their own due to technological advancement.
  • Colleges are not providing the platform & opportunities for creativity due to heavy loads of university syllabus and still imposing compulsion of attending 75% of total classes.
  • Students are lacking in time management to follow their interests due fact that they already have to to face assignments, mid-terms , sessionals ,lab records & end semester exams as per university curriculum so imposing 75% attendance criteria really killing the creativity of students as they are not getting much time for same.
